Reflexology is a natural, complementary therapy which works on the principle that the major organs, systems and anatomy of the body can be mapped on the feet. It involves application of pressure to the points of the feet (reflexes) in order to bring the state of deep relaxation, stimulate the body’s own healing power and restore a sense of well-being. By applying pressure and using massage to stimulate these reflex areas, the practitioner is able to detect subtle changes in specific points or zones on the feet and clear congestion. In so doing the flow of energy is restored, encouraging the body to heal from within. It can be used to treat specific conditions or as a way to maintain overall health.
Common Complaints treated with Reflexology
Reflexology produces a deep state of relaxation and can be used as a treatment and prevention for a wide range of illnesses and complaints including: stress, depression, respiratory problems, IBS and digestive disorders, headaches, migraines, menstrual problems and back and neck problems, to name just a few.
Benefits of Reflexology
Reflexology works on a mind-body connection, treating not only physical but mental conditions too and is extremely effective in improving sleep patterns. It boosts the blood and the lymphatic circulation, resulting in increased energy, an improved immune system, better circulation and and overall feeling of well-being.
What happens during a reflexology treatment in I feel good massage?
First you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks and then to make yourself comfortable on the massage couch. Your feet will be cleansed and then treated using a variety of massage and pressure movements over the feet and ankles.
Who can enjoy reflexology?
Reflexology is suitable for all age ranges from babies to the elderly. As with all hands-on holistic therapies, reflexology may not be suitable for everyone and certain medical conditions may prevent the use of this treatment, or may require your GP’s consent. A full consultation will be carried out before your first treatment which enables us to ensure that reflexology is right for you.
